Scientific Analysis of Iron Making By-Products Excavated from Gogi-ri, Namwon, Korea

This study analyzes six slags excavated from the iron making site in Gogi-ri, Namwon, Korea to understand characteristics of ruins, and confirm process performed at time. The chemical components by-products Gogi-ri were analyzed, findings indicate total Fe contents between 23.24% 37.56%, which are lower than typical content found ancient processes. deoxidation agent ranged 43.88% 58.13%, higher high suggests smooth separation slags, TiO2 detected use materials with titanium region. As for microstructures some have long pillar-shaped fayalites, while others wustite along ulvospinel. Slags forging furnace show hammer scales created by both earlier stages later work. suggest that used be an facility where a full range was carried out ranging smelting forging, ironmakers wide array technologies manufacture products.
